Property Tax Forum Saturday!

138Since 2009, ChangeAustin.org has been working in a variety of ways to address the unfair burden placed on homeowners under a property tax system that badly needs reform. We are delighted that many of the candidates running for City Council in November are beginning to address these issues.

Please consider attending this important Property Tax Forum with former Travis County Judge Bill Aleshire, Chief Appraiser, Marya Crigler, Travis County Tax Office COO, Tina Mortan and our own Brian Rodgers.

This event is this Saturday, 2-4 at the Church of Christ East Side Church, 5701 East MLK. This event is hosted by District 1 City Council candidate, Ora Houston. Details and share buttons are all right here.

Please consider attending Thursday’s (tomorrow!) Council meeting, starting at 4 pm to weigh in on the rail plan that appears to be barreling down the track. There’s a host of problems with it, not the least of which is that it stops at Hancock Center — for $600 million, with no guarantee of federal support for the other $600 million? Really? Go down to City Hall tomorrow night or watch this on Channel 6. We’ll be back with more on this turkey. Read what Bill Oakey has to say about it, and he likes rail!
