No More Water Rate Hikes!

Mayor Leffingwell and three City Council Members (Shade, Martinez and Cole) want to raise water rates to pay for a water treatment plant that is ten times more expensive than alternatives, including conservation.

Don’t waste our tax dollars and don’t waste our water!
The Austin City Council has raised rates EVERY SINGLE YEAR since 2003
AND the City plans FIVE MORE YEARS of water rate increases to pay for a water treatment plant we may never need!

sick of what our government does without questioning the public and expect us to suck it up!!
Just like the rediculous school district, we are taxed more than the sweds!!!!!!
GOD gave and made water!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! It is the one most important necessity to LIFE! You don’t own it , how dare you put a price tag on NATURE from GOD!!!
to whom it may concern:
perhaps for some of you email is easy but not for all. I do not use mine and never will so if you decide to follow up on the comments you solicit posting a telephone number would be wise.
Hi Susan – our number is on the contact page 512-535-0989. Sorry ’bout that!
I wish I could attend on Monday morning, or call in, but I have a scheduled conference call at that time. A conference call that is part of the job that I luckily have but that does not pay me the same percentages of salary increases each year that the city of Austin consistently increases my property taxes.
I am completely fed up with Austin and tax increases annually of 10% compounded on my property with no additional services and having Austin in my pocket at every turn with ever more creative ways to get my hard earned money while giving great breaks to developers and big business! If anyone who supposedly represents us had half a brain they might want to take a look at social indicators over the last 10-15 years in Austin and track the decline of the middle class, the increase in the homeless and the direct correlation with increases in crimes against people and property. But that would mean having to think and we apparantly don’t pay these idiots to do that.
I don’t know why I aggravate myself with any of this. I plan on selling out at the top of the market after more devlopement in my already over developed neighborhood and getting the hell out of Austin. I know many who share my sentiment and my plan. Can’t wait to see how many “Best Places To Live” lists Austin remains on in 5 years. Few I would suspect as thay rape the middle class.
